Our food group plan feature is the only of its kind on the internet. This feature allows you to create your own food group plan (kind of like the USDA's food pyramid). You get to choose the amount of servings of each food group to design a plan that agrees with your food preferences, and meets all your energy & nutritional needs.
And it isn't just for planning purposes our database keeps track of your servings so you don't have to. Just log your food and thinjoy will automatically update the amount of servings in your food group plan. This allows you to view your diet in a easy graphical display. It's a much higher quality feedback mechanism than just numbers, and makes it easy to see which kind of foods you are eating & which foods you might be eating too much of.

A strategy is the basic unit of any method or action you take to improve your eating choices, behavior, or physical activity. In thinjoy each strategy is given its own page which provides description and detail. Users can then add strategies to their profiles. All of the strategies chosen by or created by the user represent their own customized diet plan.
While some strategies are created by thinjoy most are created by users. And their quality and success is a testament to the inventiveness of the community. Users know what works and what doesn't work, and they can apply this knowledge and creativity to designing strategies for themselves, and sharing them so everyone else can benefit.
We have become the definitive source for strategies. Over time as our collection grows we will have solutions for every problem that arises in the dieting process, solutions that meet the needs and preferences of a large diverse group of people. thinjoy's community is different than other websites in its emphasis on sharing as a means of discovery & learning as opposed to sharing as a form of broadcasting. We understand that most people are a little apprehensive about sharing information pertaining to food choices and body weight and we have designed a system that minimizes the associated risks of community features while enjoying all of the benefits. Our users can easily circulate ideas, assist and encourage each other without worrying about their information getting into the wrong hands. In fact many users choose to maintain complete anonymity while actively participating in our community.
At the same time users can participate in actions similar to what they might find on popular social networking sites: the ability to add friends, and check out how they are doing.
The reason thinjoy works so well is the community features are not just some superficial web 2.0 add-on, blog, or message board. Our community features are fully integrated right into each of thinjoy's other features. For instance users can easily recommend a strategy or an article from the library to another friend. Our activity log is in many respects very similar to our food log. It was designed to be quick & easy to use. The activity log automatically customizes to each user, and favorite days can be saved manually by the user, so that they can log their activity without even searching for activities. Calories burned are graphed in a simple format so users can meet their calorie and activity goals.
