Thinjoy is a family business; this site was designed and developed by three brothers—with a lot of help and encouragement from our parents, wives, and children.

Start with your own life and work from there. All too often people try to follow diet plans that are dramatically different than what they are used to. This just makes dieting ridiculously difficult. Instead we recommend starting with your current lifestyle & eating habits and making small improvements to meet calorie targets. Small changes are usually more likely to be sustainable in the long run.

Take it easy and give yourself some time to find out what works best for you. Feel free to experiment with a wide variety of different strategies; the more you try the more likely you are to find something that is a good fit for you. And don’t be afraid to fail. If something doesn’t work out just drop it and move on to the next thing. In time you will find something that not only helps you lose weight and keep it off but also something that fits your lifestyle, food preferences, wants and needs.

We were lucky enough to grow up on a farm in a rural community in the rolling mountains of Central Pennsylvania. We really enjoyed our childhood. Our experiences growing up on our family farm are largely responsible for shaping the way we view the world, the way we live and the way we eat.

Unlike most families of today we ate together daily, not just for dinner but also for breakfast. Around the table we enjoyed foods grown locally by friends, produce that came directly from our garden, and beef raised right on our farm (grass-fed beef back before we had even heard that term).

Over the years we moved away to the city and more recently returned back home. Along the way we have picked up new ideas from friends and the communities that we lived. While there has been a shift in an emphasis to the environment and sustainability, many new ideas about food and the way it relates to our lives have come full circle, reinforcing the mores of our upbringing.

We are especially encouraged by recent movements that promote gardening, buying local produce, using sustainable agriculture and those that support small farms. These food movements have a real emotional connection for us, and we feel they are a great opportunity to get people to think about eating and living in a healthier way. We would really like to see the ideas of these movements and communities be incorporated into the weight loss community.

When we set out to design a weight management system, we’re sure we had similar goals to everyone else who has ever attempted to take on this kind of endeavor. We wanted to design a system that was fast and easy to use, one that encouraged discovery & learning did not place unreasonable burdens on its users, and most importantly, we wanted to build a system that was effective at helping people lose weight and keep it off. For any of you who choose to try out our site you will see that we have considerable technical skill. Our engineering prowess put us in a position not just to build out a system to the current industry standard, but one that would push us forward into the next generation. We feel that we really have something here; it’s an innovative product in an industry that rarely sees any change. We hope you like it.

Expect the site to improve. Everything about it, change is built right into each feature. Our database will grow; our library will expand, as will the number and quality of the strategies in the system. We’re hard at work on new features, and keeping our ears to the ground listening for the best way to improve on the features we already have.
